For our clients who have taken the WorkPlace Big Five or SchoolPlace Big Five personality assessments, and who also want assistance with making a good career choice or optimizing their work competencies, we recommend taking the Career Guider, developed by Center of Applied Cognitive Studies (CentACS).
In the career counseling and coaching fields, there are essentially five different “models” for narrowing down career paths. Most counselors or coaches favor one model over the others:
- The ACT World of Work Map and Job Families
- The Holland Hexagon of Job Content
- The Schein Career Anchor model
- The 25 ACT Work Attribute Preferences
- Gardner’s Eight Talents
The Career Guider provides bar graphs and written suggestions using all five models, while also addressing career selection based upon WorkPlace Big Five or School Place Big Five personality traits. Because it is extremely thorough in its approach to career planning, we like to review it with our clients a few pages at a time. Our clients also benefit from the Career Guider live links to a variety of public websites that are dedicated to help assess good career/job matches.
